Barco unveiled its new range of XHD Media Servers during ISE 2015 – the world’s leading systems integration trade show. Available in four models, these media servers offer visualization professionals an end-to-end solution for a wide range of applications including fixed set-ups in entertainment and visitor attractions, rental and staging applications and 3D projection mapping.
Swept away at first sight
With shipping starting in March, Barco has pulled out all the stops to present this newest gem to its partners around the world. At Barco’s APAC partner meeting held from 10 to 12 March in Seoul, Barco’s long-standing Malaysian rental partner Cantuman placed the first order for the XHD 404 Media server on the Asian continent. “It really is an all-in-one solution that covers the full visualization workflow, from design to operation”, says Zaki Mustapa, Project Director at Cantuman. “Its powerful 3D Projection Study tool allows you to visualize any design setup, giving an clearer preview than ever before. Based on excellent previous experiences with Barco products, it didn’t take us long to decide that this was a must-have for Cantuman. In fact, we placed our order on the spot.”
For Barco, the order was the very first for its new XHD family on the Asian continent. Jeffrey Ng, Sales Manager at Barco is convinced that there will be plenty more to come: “Because the XHD series truly is unique in giving operators and designers creative freedom and full control over multimedia experiences. What’s more, the solution is not only extremely powerful in terms of visualization; it also is one of the easiest to use on the market. A half-day training course is all it takes for anyone to become an expert at intricate 3D projection mappings.”
A notable debut
Cantuman didn’t waste any time in putting its brand-new XHD 404 Media Server to the test. The opening ceremony to the 26th ASEAN Summit, held on 27 April at the Plenary Hall of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), provided the perfect stage. “Although it was the first project in which we had used the XHD 404’s new features, we were fully confident of the performance it would deliver. Especially since the embedded content assembly and design tool enables you to run a complete virtual rehearsal of the event. The tool also allowed us to gain time with projector set-up and execution, resulting in cost savings from the very first run”, says Zaki Mustapa.
