Rancho Cordova, Calif. USA – 2 July 2015 – Barco, a global leader in visualization technology, is continuing to lead the projection mapping landscape, powering numerous shows and events around the globe with its award-winning large venue projection. Its latest foray: Electronic Opus, a creation of TanZ Group and Video Games Live creator Tommy Tallarico, presenting a pioneering, immersive electronic symphonic concert featuring famous works reimagined by world-renowned EDM artist, film composer and technologist Brian Transeau (BT).

Making its debut at Miami Music Week, Electronic Opus is a multi-dimensional musical event featuring a symphony orchestra merged with synthesized electronic instruments, soaring vocals, a giant innovative hardscape, and brilliantly shapeshifting video, creating an immersive sensory experience. Tying it all together is a stunning interactive 3D projection mapping show, fully enveloping the audience in a kaleidoscope of dynamic sight and sound.

Full sight and sound immersion
Interdisciplinary new media design studio Volvox Labs designed and built a 52’ x 13’ topographic wall as a video mapping surface to represent a “physical manifestation of the animated worlds and a wormhole to different dimensions.” Barco provided three RLM-W14 large venue projectors and short-throw lenses to power the custom sound-driven visuals.

Capturing widespread impressions at the Miami event, Sam Krichevsky, CEO, TanZ Group comments: “The combined effect of the multi-dimensional wall and the perfectly blended projection echoing the acoustical experience was stunning – you felt like you were actually inside the show!”

A seamless panorama of imagery
Thanks to the extended warping and blending capabilities of the RLM-W14 projector, the unique interactive segments seamlessly blended with the exclusive synchronized HD video footage. An additional projector was used to create holographic projections on transparent acrylic panels in front of the orchestra, creating instant mega HD TV walls. As BT recently wrote on Twitter, commending this industry first, “I don’t think people can imagine the visual component of Electronic Opus…there’s literally never been anything like it.”

Committed to cutting-edge entertainment
The premiere Electronic Opus event was the first of several concert dates in the works, launching TanZ Group’s plans to spread the Electronic Opus concept worldwide. Barco is supporting the tour with its large venue projectors, anticipating a long run of this new entertainment concept which many in the industry are calling “the catalyst to the future of electronic dance music.”

“We are delighted to partner with TanZ Group on this revolutionary multimedia performance concept and believe that it holds great promise for entertaining all generations of music lovers,” comments Scott Stremple, Vice President Account Sales - Entertainment & Corporate for Barco.
