Rancho Cordova, Calif. USA – 15 October 2015 – Digital
cinema market share leader Barco continues to grow its footprint in the
residential market, attracting the attention of movie industry titans
who’ve enjoyed the stunning performance of its commercial digital cinema
projectors. Its latest high-profile customer: famed movie producer
Jerry Bruckheimer, best known for Top Gun, the Pirates of the Caribbean
and National Treasure franchises, and numerous award-winning television
series.
With 48 films to his credit, Jerry Bruckheimer has witnessed
first-hand the brilliant movie presentation of Barco’s industry-leading
DLP Cinema® projectors. Recently, Bruckheimer outfitted his new home
theater with a Barco Residential model. “Barco has always been a leader
in digital cinema projection, and now I’m thrilled that I’m able to
have one of their projectors in my very own home!” comments Bruckheimer.
When setting out to design his new home theater, Bruckheimer wanted to
create a unique space that went beyond the typical moviegoing
experience. Built in 1927 and once owned by Columbia Pictures co-founder
Harry Cohn, the Beverly Hills mansion features a lavish living space
surrounding the art deco-inspired theater. And, while it features two
original 35mm projectors on display in a turn of nostalgia, only the
Barco digital cinema projector, with its cutting-edge projection
technology, is used to screen movies.
Brightest is best
The 4K DLP Cinema projector is the perfect fit for the producer, who
wanted the brightest projector to screen his in-home movies. This stems
from Bruckheimer’s desire to view his own blockbuster films using the
highest quality projectors, whether produced in 4K, 3D or with Auro 11.1
by Barco. “Barco projectors produce the best and brightest image,”
continues Bruckheimer.
A fan of Barco Escape
As an innovator in cinema for more than 40 years, Bruckheimer’s name is
synonymous with “the next big thing,” in the movie industry. He is
continually working to enhance the moviegoing experience, seeking new
ways to astonish and entertain audiences. So, it comes as no surprise
that Bruckheimer was one of the early adopters of Barco Escape, a
multi-screen, fully immersive movie format that is rolling out in more
than 20 theaters globally in September. “I’m excited to be working with
Barco to develop content in the Barco Escape format,” comments
Bruckheimer.
He has signed on to collaborate with Barco on a new project as well as
re-envisioning a classic Bruckheimer film in the Barco Escape format,
which he calls “a significant advancement in the film industry’s ongoing
evolution, with the ability to transport audiences into movies in an
unprecedented way.”
